Marie prefers to be referred to as Mom (sometimes as "Momi"), and also "Mom of Four" (beautiful kids, I may add).
However, she likes her professional tittle to be "Homebaker" or (not-so-much-as) what I added to her business card: -Homebaker-Owner-

What is Marie about? She is all about rising her kids and taking care of them. Then in her spare time (as if she had any) she has a dream: she says: "I want to have a small store where I can sell my small batch home-baked goods that I like to make for my friends and neighbors. Also, a place where I can create modern Gift Baskets". (ModBaskets™ rings a bell to anyone?).
The idea of creating ModBaskets™ came to her when she was tasked with bringing a gift to a party but forgot to buy the gift. She frantically searched for somewhere..., anywhere, in the Salt Lake Valley for gift baskets that did not look like an afterthought. There were only Box Stores full of commercial products that you can get at any supermarket. Frustrated (at the time she was pregnant with her fourth child), she settled for buying expensive fruits and ended up doing the arrangement for the gift herself, since nobody provided the service of making a gift basket with something that the customer provided.
She remembered her mother-in-law always telling her -"You have talent, you have extraordinary skills with your hands. Why don't you start your own business?"- Well, she did just that, and ModBaskets™ was born. The dream of having her own small store is the inspiration that drives her, but her strongest motivation is wanting to provide for herself and her kids!

Marie Franco came to Utah as a teenager at the turn of the 21st century. She did not have a privileged childhood and that taught her the necessary survival skills to thrive in the modern market environment. She has completed studies in marketing and communications and has applied them to her business.
Now a mother of four, she decided to become as independent as she could, and for that she tapped into her baking skills, became enamored with the sourdough tradition of making bread and started selling to her friends and neighbors.
Her mother-in-law saw her designer and manual skills to make floral and fruit arrangements and started encouraging (and even pushing) her to start her own business.
In 2021, Marie Franco took a further step and founded ModBaskets™ as a sole owner company and as female entrepreneur and has been successful in maintaining a presence in the very competitive market of home-baking in Utah’s Salt Lake Valley. Today she continues to push for growth and participates in community service and in local churches.
