
The Process
The process of ordering a cake starts by filling the Request for a Special Wedding Order Form found on the Wedding Page.
Once we receive the Request for a Special Wedding Order Form, we will contact you using the information on the form to go over the details of your event and offer other services that we can provide for your event, such as floral arrangements, centerpieces, and /or ModBaskets™.
Once we come to an agreement we will ask you to sign a contract (electronic or pen-and-paper) stating all the details of our agreement, including, dates, lead times an/or items provided by you.
Please note that at the present time we CANNOT deliver wedding cakes. Please make arrangements with a third party for picking up your wedding cake.
A 50% deposit is required at the moment of signing the contract. Note: this deposit is not refundable.
How Big a Cake Do I Need?
The size of the cake is determined by how many guests are going to the event. However, that is not the only consideration.
The second consideration is how many tiers of cake you want or need. A typical tier is about 4 to 5 inches tall (we can do up to 7 inches tall at extra cost). And sizes go from 5 inches diameter all the way to 14 inches, in one inch increments.
Different combinations of tiers yield different number of serves.
A serving size for a wedding cake is one inch by two inches by how tall the tier is (typically about four inches). A serving size for a party cake is two inches by two inches by how tall the tier is. That is why a party cake of the same size as a wedding cake yields about half the serves.

IMPORTANT!!: BECAUSE WE USE BUTTERCREAM FROSTING ON OUR WEDDING CAKES THE VENUE TEMPERATURE MUST BE BELOW 75 DEGREES FARENHEIT AT ALL TIMES.
Cake Flavors
Colibrí Cake™ Flavor- is a specialty of ModBaskets™ it's origins is in the West Caribbean and later in 1960's in the Southern USA. It is an airy, soft sponge cake based on dairy products, nuts (pecan), cream cheese and other ingredients such as coconut, pineapple, banana, and other tropical fruits that Marie has thoughtfully added to give it a delicate but distinct and updated taste for the 21st Century. The recipe is inspired by Marie's Southern roots and my Caribbean origins.
Colibrí (col-ib-ree) is Spanish for humming bird, the name of the original cake. Please, ask for a Tasting Session to fully appreciate the rich flavors in this cake. The session is only $35.
Sunshine Cake Flavor™ - is another ModBaskets™ specialty. The best way to describe it is a delicate citrusy flavor. It is not lemon, or orange, or lime. It is a secret combination that Marie designed by experimenting and innovating in her own kitchen. It has become a favorite for wedding and party cakes, so much so, that now it has become a favorite flavor for frosting, muffins, and cupcakes too.
To fully appreciate this flavor, please, ask for a Cake Tasting Session, for only $35 it is well worth it.
